Are electric cars accepted for scrapping?
Electric and hybrid cars can be considered after the model, battery condition, damage and recovery requirements have been checked. Tell us about warning lights, fire, flood or accident damage when requesting the quote.
What happens to the parts from my scrapped car?
The receiving authorised treatment facility depollutes the car and decides which components can be reused or recycled. Remaining materials are handled through the facility's approved treatment process.
Do you scrap both petrol and diesel cars?
Petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric cars can all be considered. Fuel type, engine, battery condition, completeness and recovery requirements are checked for the exact vehicle.
Can I scrap a car that's been off the road for years?
A long-term off-road or SORN car can be considered from private land when ownership, condition and safe access can be confirmed. Tell us if brakes are seized, tyres are flat or keys are missing.
What if my car is missing parts like wheels or the engine?
Missing wheels, engine or other major parts do not automatically prevent collection, but they can change the quote and equipment needed. List every missing component and explain how the car is supported.
Is the catalytic converter removed before scrapping?
When a car is destroyed, the receiving authorised treatment facility carries out depollution and processes the catalytic converter and other controlled components through the approved route.
Do I need to clean my car before scrapping?
The car does not need cosmetic cleaning. Remove personal belongings, documents, tools and loose rubbish, and tell us about anything that cannot be removed before collection.
Can a car with finance still be scrapped?
Do not arrange disposal while finance is outstanding unless it has been settled or the owner or finance company has given clear written authority. We need evidence that you are entitled to hand over the car.
Is there a minimum age or condition for scrapping a car?
There is no single minimum age or condition, but every car needs an individual assessment. Write-offs, older non-runners and damaged cars can be considered when ownership and safe recovery are clear.
Can I scrap a car without keys?
A car without keys can be considered after its ownership, parking position, steering, gearbox and loading requirements have been checked. Missing keys can affect the recovery plan.
How is the scrap value of my car calculated?
The quote uses the exact registration, model, condition, completeness, recoverable material, parts demand, collection postcode and access. Recorded prices are comparisons rather than fixed offers.
What documents prove I own the car?
The V5C is helpful, along with suitable photo identification and proof of address. Other ownership or authority evidence may be required, especially for company, inherited or keeper-absent vehicles.
