Should I Sell, Salvage or Scrap My Car?
Compare resale, salvage and complete scrapping so the quote, ownership checks, DVLA transfer and final paperwork match the vehicle's likely route.
A roadworthy or economically repairable vehicle may be worth offering for sale, while a badly damaged, incomplete or end-of-life car may be better suited to a scrap quote. Compare a realistic sale value with repair cost, time, recovery needs and the risk of the vehicle remaining unsold.
Salvage is not the same as complete destruction. A damaged vehicle may still have reusable parts or repair potential. Check any finance agreement and confirm who owns insurance salvage before accepting an offer.
Ask what is intended for the vehicle and keep the transfer and payment records. A Certificate of Destruction applies only when an eligible vehicle is completely depolluted or destroyed by the receiving authorised treatment facility; it is not issued for repair or resale.
